Between picture, picture-object, and site-specific installations, Geisler‘s works circle the field of expanded painting. In his painterly works he deals with ambivalent phenomena of our present time. Thereby, he strikes a delicate balance between signs with positive and negative connotations. His works open up questions about the intersections of space and time, privilege and disadvantage, construction and destruction. Since 2021, Geisler has been constantly working on his series of works entitled „Habitats.“ He uses various types of tents as material carrier for his paintings. Overstretched, distorted, and covered with dense layers of paint, the commercially available pop-up tents hang on the walls like paintings. The original form of the leisure dwellings can only be guessed at in places. We encounter the works as a still image, as a trace of a completed action. They are relics of the recent past and refer to the large and necessary mass movements of the 20th and 21st century, tourism and displacement, work or climate migration.
